Providing the nation with reference molecular testing and assisting to carry out molecular research in infectious diseases

History

This unit has functioned as the focal point in developing molecular diagnostic services and research related to infectious diseases since its first establishment. The unit has contributed to initiate many clinical, public health and research work at Medical Research Institute over the years.

General Information

This unit is under the supervision of a Consultant Virologist. Both research officers and medical laboratory technologists contribute to research projects and reference molecular work in the unit. In addition, this facility is utilized for molecular bench work of other departments in coordination with the permanent staff of the unit.
