Laboratory Animal Sciences

Sub-units of the Animal Center

The animal center comprises units such as animal breeding, infectious animal experiments,
noninfectious animal experiments, laboratory animal feed production, and large animal areas.
The animal breeding area is controlled by a barrier system to prevent infections coming in and
nucleus breeding colonies of laboratory animals are maintained in this area.  Laboratory animal
feed is produced in the feed production area and in the large animal area sheep are being
maintained for blood drawing purposes laboratory media preparation and various other
diagnostic purposes.
